FontanaArte Lighting | Lightopia: Designer Lighting

Architect Gio Ponti founded FontanaArte in 1932 as an artistic division in the company Luigi Fontana. Soon after, FontanaArte was first distinguished by the realization of artistic stained-glass windows, many of which are today still functional elements and ornamental in churches and cathedrals. Amongst them, the Duomo of Milan and the cathedral of Brasilia.
FontanaArte believes that light is so present in our everyday life that we almost don't take notice of it. We move within light (both natural and artificial) with the same naturalness with which we move in the air, and we take notice of it only when there is something unusual: an eclipse, a flash of lightning, or an unexpected ray of sunlight. In the case of natural light: a broken light bulb, a blackout, or an incorrect illumination that blinds us and makes us feel unwell, in the case of artificial light.

FontanaArte wishes to give architects and lighting designers something more: beautiful lighting. Lighting pieces that not necessarily need to be hidden for love of the purity of light, but rather that can enter in first person into the lighting and set design with the necessary discretion and with the necessary desire to be the center of attention, increasing the possibility of expression for the authors of light.
